The Boscaini family purchased their Masi vineyards nestled in a tiny valley of Valpolicella during the 18th century and are still farming these lands of the Veneto region in Italy. Their azienda with sweeping gardens and red clay roofs is a sight to behold, overlooking a sea of vines and stately cypress trees. Deep alluvial soils overlay ancient limestone bedrock in their Campofiorin vineyards where traditional veronese grapes such as corvina, rondinella, and molinara are raised on guyot trellises. Their ‘Campofiorin Rosso’ flaunts a full body with a smooth velvety texture and expansive flavors of blackberry, allspice and clove, leather and dark chocolate. The production style of this wine is termed appassimento, using partially dried grapes to amplify the flavors and power, similar to the making of amarone. (Jenny)
