A brilliant value in sophisticated, 100% Tempranillo Rioja, hand-harvested and aged in traditional American Oak. The wine comes from vines aged 20-25 years in the Montebuena vineyard in Labastida, Rioja. Bodegas y Viñedos Labastida makes the wine and then Master Sommelier and importer Fran Kysela selects the lots to be blended and bottled for his Kysela Pere et Fils - Cuvee KPF.
In 2016, we especially love how the juicy, ripe, raspberry and blackberry fruit complements the layers of gentle oaks pice and cured tobacco complexity. The texture is fleshy and generous and the finish stylish and long with notes of black tea, sweet spice and tobacco lingering with the ripe red fruit. A bit shockingly for a wine at this price point, this is built to age 5-8 years but is delicious right now from first pour!
