Located on a hilltop overlooking the Greve Valley in the Chianti Classico region, this estate has a long history. Having been first an Etruscan and then a Roman settlement, it became the property of the Verrazzano family in the 7th century (yes, that Verrazzano, and the explorer was in fact born in the castle in 1485). After having undergone changing fortunes over the centuries, the castle has now rediscovered its ancient splendor thanks to the patient work of the present owner, Luigi Cappellini, and the winery is now certified organic. This is classic Chianti Classico, with intense aromas of cherries and blackberries, well balanced on the palate, slightly savory, with hints of oak.
